Solid Rock on Which We Stand LLC has been providing care in a variety of ways to my adult son. He is currently in a supportive living situation. Solid Rock provides assistance on a daily basis with self-help needs such as meal preparation, laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, and more. They also provide transportation to work. My son is very social, and they provide him with opportunities to be with friends and do activities. Caring for an adult with a disability is a group effort, and Solid Rock is excellent at communicating with the family regarding every aspect of the client's needs. I highly recommend them.

Solid Rock IS Family, 03-29-2019 12:54PM

By: Community Member in Geauga county

For several years now I have known personally most of the clients and staff at Solid Rock. As I write this review, it is difficult for me to use the word "clients" as those who have services provided by Solid Rock would be better described as family members. Solid Rock is a Christian organization with a strong emphasis on faith, family and community. I have witnessed growth of a few clients who were non-verbal when they came to the Solid Rock family and now have opened up like a precious flower. I have seen staff members sit at the bedside of a client who was hospitalized during their off hours because they could not bear the thought of that client being alone in a frightening situation. On a similar note, I have seen the CEO of the company along with her husband and children spend Christmas Day with a client in the hospital so that he would not be alone.

In these days of social media, one can truly view examples of the saying "A picture is worth a thousand words". I have social media contacts with some staff members at Solid Rock and really enjoy seeing pictures of the clients having so much fun. The girls at a beauty pagent, bowling teams, basketball teams, the ARK, dances, trips to the parks, vacations (not just a trip to the beach, but trips to Myrtle Beach, Niagra Falls, Kalahari, Hocking Hills - the list goes on and on).

I think it is spectacular that the clients at Solid Rock are able to live in home like settings rather than what most of us know as a more institutional setting. Whether a client resides in an apartment or in a home, how wonderful is it that they have the luxury of a loving person to care for them and help with day to day living rather than having a staff person assigned to a hall or building section where folks with DD are warehoused? I think the situations provided by Solid Rock are exemplary; situations such as having staff to assist clients with the day to day such as meal preparation, laundry, personal hygiene and all that you and I take for granted. Yet, at the same time staff who can and do take care of those things in total where and when it is required.

Since Solid Rock began I have attended their Thanksgiving dinner every year. Attendees for this dinner are the Solid Rock clients and their families as well as staff and their families. The fact that the first year there were 10 - 11 people in attendance and last year there were 135 I believe speaks for itself.

Solid Rock is a first class organization and fulfills any needs required from basic transportation to complete and loving care of those who lack the ability to communicate and care for themselves. I highly recommend them.
